A couple issues ago I asked: “Do you still have a CD that is unique in some way? Or is there a CD that you got rid of that you deeply regret? Who was it? Why did you have it?”
A reader responded and said I can share their response:
“Growing up, my parents played a really weird mix of religious and classic rock around us. Somehow, we got hold of a CD of Looney Tunes doing Beatles covers (https://looneytunes.fandom.com/wiki/Bugs_%26_Friends_Sing_The_Beatles). My brothers and I were OBSESSED, especially with the Bugs/Daffy rendition of “Hello Goodbye.” This album is not on streaming anywhere (which, we only use Apple Music or purchased media these days for reasons), you can’t buy it from iTunes or whatever, and [kiddo] already loves Caspar Babypants’s Beatles covers (look him up if you haven’t, this is the most fascinating children’s musician I’ve come across, and the musicality is good), and so I had to buy it. From eBay. Do we have a way to play it? Nope! In a way, owning it is almost enough for me but I really do need to find a way to play it for my kiddo.” (presented with light editing)
This reminded me of the cassette I had of The Simpson’s Sing the Blues that I’m pretty sure I wore out. This is extra fascinating to me at this age because I wasn’t allowed to watch The Simpsons (my mom didn’t like how rude Bart Simpson was to adults).
